2025 Drone Tech

By drones I meant just the flying things. The ones with several rotors which can stay at one place and the ones with wings, that fly like a plane (that is for longer distances).

Multirotor drones are used for the inspection of buildings, because they can stay at a spot for a while and produce pictures from a stable position. A common type is the DJI Matrice 350 RTK.

Now to the eyecatcher, the Russian drones. Russia uses some drone types pretty often, here I will write about some of them.

The Orlan 10 is fixed wing airplane that looks like a airplane model you can build yourself. It is built to gather information. 6 kg of payload are possible which brings the drone to a takeoff weight of 15 kg. It has a fuel engine and can reach up to 150 km/h. Via a control station the drones are radio controlled and can reach a target up to 110 km away and fly back.

Shahed-series / Geran drones are originally Iranian drones. They are used by Russia in the Ukraine. Used for attack, this kind of drones fly a longer distance and seem to be faster in general. Some have jet engines. See the small Wiki article for more infos.

In the US and Europe the General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper seems to be the best, most used drone. The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper is a U.S.-made medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle designed for both surveillance and precision strike missions. Unlike smaller drones, it can carry a significant payload of sensors, guided bombs, and missiles, making it versatile for intelligence gathering and combat. Several European countries, including France, Italy, and the Netherlands, operate the MQ-9.
